gal in a parka

This was just for fun. orange and grey is my new favorite color scheme. shes a cool gal i think, representing both the Marvel and DC universes. No petty side choosing for her. ...thats a mod target btw, not a "Target" target. She's prob waiting for the bus right now as its too snowy to take out the Vespa.

we'll make great pets...

these are illustrations i did as an assignment in class to promote adoption for the Anti-Cruelty Society. wanted to keep it simple by using as little lines as i could. I also wanted to get away from the sad eyed, abused animal angle, and focus on the rewards of  rescuing a pet. Also, I'm promoting codependency. So there's that too.

Dr. ...Who?

These guys are little posters i made for my friend who is hosting the Cyberkaraoke Britrock party at  the upcoming Chicago Tardis, an annual Dr.Who convention. i thought it would be fun to recreate some iconic album covers from a few of my favorite bands, and tie them into the Dr. Who thing. The top one is suppose to be the album cover of The Jam's in The City, and if you dont know who they are I highly recommend them. The second one is probably more recognizable. its a spoof of The Cure's Boys Don't Cry single (remix i think). i used to have this poster on my wall and its pretty much what i think of when i think of The Cure. I put in a Dalek because they are this alien race devoid of every emotion except hate which worked perfect with the title, plus a Dalek with Robert Smith hair is just plain funny.

This was a quick and fun illustration i did as a cover for my creative writing class final. it was basically a final collection of our best work that term revised and polished up all shiny. One of my stories was a retelling of the three little pigs. A kinda hard boiled crime novel version. I thought the scribbled look really captured the feel of it. straight and to the point this one is.

come get some!

Was thinking of using this piece as a cover for my portfolio book. Had an earlier version with very bright colors and while i dug it i just didn't really really like, not in my heart of hearts. this one is much more up my alley. was goin for a left in the basement and saved from a flood kinda look with all that grime and junk. the idea itself was just me thinking ...if I Could choose how i go out, how would i go?

KA-POW!

This was a commissioned piece that was a lot of fun to work on. the client was very specific with what he wanted , which made my job just that much easier. the actual piece is 2x3 feet and printed on canvas. The car was a bit of a challenge to pull off as they are the one thing i avoid drawing whenever possible. was really going for a loony toons feel for the whole thing and i think i got it. very happy with how this one came out.

Zombies, zombies, zombies!

This was a fun project that i was commissioned to work on for my friends band, Suture Self. Been a while since i went all out in horror mode so this was a cool little visit to what got me drawing in the first place. Making sure i got the bands likeness was a challenge but not nearly as bad as i thought it would be. I made the zombies sort of old comic book horror, with the ridged brow and puckered up mouths. was going for gruesome without being overly gory. the bricks, ..the bricks were a pain.
Here is a closer look at the band members and some of the detail. the actual picture is 11x18. yeah those are his actual tattoos. he was very specific.
